Price & Plan Options
Homeowners can choose from two different warranty plans with Advanced Home Warranty. However, both plans come with a promotional offer of the first month for free. It is an excellent strategy to incentivize the sign-up process for consumers. With both warranty plans, the company arranges its service contractors to replace or repair any covered components, system, or appliances that break down due to normal wear and tear.
When the service contractor arrives, homeowners must pay him a $60 deductible or service fee. If the repair cost of the asset or component is less than $60, the homeowner will pay a lower service charge. The process stays the same for both warranty plans, but the covered assets vary with each plan. Hence, both have different premiums and pricing. Here is a brief breakdown of each plan.
This plan costs $370 annually, including the first month for free. It covers all major appliances and systems within the household. However, the homeowners must note that not all pieces of appliances and systems will fall under this coverage. It is advisable to carefully read the policy and its terms and conditions to understand what is covered and what is not. Knowing what the plan does not cover will give homeowners a chance to prepare for a repair cost of uncovered assets. The Basic Plan covers the heating system, plumbing system, electrical system, built-in microwave, dishwasher, and garage door opener.
This plan costs $450 per year (an extra $80 to upgrade to the Total Plan from the Basic Plan) and comes with the benefits of getting additional coverage for some of the commonly used appliances within the household. However, homeowners must ensure that their appliances fit the warranty requirements set by Advanced Home Warranty. For instance, the air conditioning system in the house must be an electrical one to qualify. A gas-based air conditioning unit will not be eligible to fall under the protection of the coverage contract.
Some of the items that the Total Plan covers in addition to the items mentioned in the Basic Plan include air conditioning, refrigerator, and clothes washer and dryer.
Professional Contractor Network
Advanced Home Warranty team has in-network contractors, which means they will send in their technicians to inspect, assess, and carry out the repair or recommend a replacement. The policyholders cannot hire their own technicians to fix the issue. The company carefully selects its contractors via an interviewing process to analyze whether they will be a great fit for the company. All its technicians and service contractors have professional licenses and certifications to carry out the desired repairs and replacements.
Advanced Home Warranty network offers a relatively simple warranty claim process. First of all, they have set a deductible for each claim at a very nominal $60, which is lower than what most companies charge.
This amount must be paid to the service contractor on the visit before the repair commences. The policyholder can call them on their 24/7 customer services or claims hotline. However, they must remember that the earliest they can make the first claim is 30 days after purchasing the warranty.
Once a service request comes in, the Advanced Home Warranty team will contact an authorized service contractor within 48 hours during normal business hours and four days during holidays and weekends. The service contractor will contact the homeowner to schedule an appointment at a mutually convenient time for both parties during business working hours. If the repair constitutes an emergency, the service contractor will try to expedite the emergency service as much as possible.
Advanced Home Warranty guarantees to provide service within two working days of filing the claim. This is a bit longer than other companies; however, it shows the company wants to give realistic repair timelines to their customers.
Repair & Replacement Policies
The coverage provided is for one appliance, system, or unit, unless the homeowner pays an additional fee for extra units. Either way, there is a certain limit of liability that applies to covered appliances and systems.
For example, the policy covers all components and parts of a cloth washer and dryer except lint screen, venting, noise, doors, hinges, and damages to clothes. Coverage is available for air-conditioning units designed for residential use; they must not exceed 5 tons of capacity. The policy covers central ducted air-conditioning, ducted wall air-conditioning, and all parts and components below 13 SEER. Similar limits apply to the heating systems.
Other examples include dishwashers where the warranty covers all parts and components except rollers, baskets, hinges, handles, door gaskets, etc. In ductwork, the policy covers duct from the point of attachment to the heating unit at grills or registers. It does not protect insulation, grills and registers, vents, breaching, flues, etc. If the ductwork is concrete embedded, the policy has a limit of liability at $500 maximum per contract term. This amount will include access, diagnostics, repair, and replacement cost.
