Choice Ultimate: This plan starts at $580 per year and includes everything covered in Choice Plus with the addition of plumbing upgrade, heating and air-conditioning upgrade, appliances upgrade, haul away services, improper installation, repair, modifications, mismatched conditions, permit fees, and code violations.

The company offers the first month for free with every annual coverage plan. Each plan has the option for service or product add-ons which can range anywhere between $35 to $160. By paying extra, you can have the following services added to your plan:

  • Limited Roof Leak – $60
  • Central Vacuum – $30
  • Additional Refrigerator – $35
  • Stand-alone Freezer – $35
  • Undercounter Ice Maker – $35
  • Septic System – $100
  • Septic Plumbing – $65
  • Well Pump – $80
  • Pool and Spa Equipment – $160

There is a service call fee of $65 per claim that needs to be paid to the technician regardless of the cost incurred during repair or replacement. However, there might be discounts available, so it is recommended that you call up the company to discuss your options and negotiate.

You might be able to renew your plan after one year, but it depends on the rates and terms and conditions at that time. Note that Choice Home Warranty does not cover known or unknown pre-existing conditions, misuse, abuse, or failure to clean or maintain systems or appliances under any of the three plans.

Professional Contractor Network

Choice Home Warranty expands its network coverage by having independent contractors sign up as registered vendors through their online portal. This is a mutually beneficial agreement in which vendors get new clients and grow their businesses while the company gets to expand its network across the states. Choice Home Warranty is currently working with more than 15,000 local vendors, ensuring that there is no downtime whenever a claim is placed. Depending on the quality of work, the company rewards its contractors with a growing clientele and instant recognition without any marketing efforts.

Claims Process

Choice Home Warranty makes the entire claim process simple. Users of the service can log in to their online account to fill in a quick claims form that can be submitted 24/7. Once you’ve submitted a claim, the brand will contact a local contractor (within 48 hours) to get in touch with you. The company typically assigns a case to at least 2 or 3 customer representatives to reduce downtime.

The company will try to diagnose the problem first on the phone to see if it is a minor issue and can be resolved through troubleshooting over a call. If the problem persists or is not fixable over the phone then a technician, after making an appointment, visits your home and assesses whether the appliance requires a repair or complete replacement.

If you have a replacement coverage and the appliance cannot be repaired, Choice Home Warranty will provide you with a cash settlement for that appliance. Cash is also given if the repair costs exceed the replacement costs. You are expected to pay the difference between the charge of a new appliance and your cash settlement.

There is a service fee that users are required to pay the technician when arriving at the house. The service fee of $65 per visit is meant to repair the appliances covered in your plan. However, if the appliance that needs to be repaired is not covered under your plan, then you still need to pay the service fee of $65 plus any repair costs incurred for the appliance. This will be communicated to you in advance by a customer representative when they go over your claim request and your plan coverage.

The waiting time for claims are dependent on the issue at hand and when the technician calls to schedule an appointment. Usually claims are processed within 7 to 14 business days, however, depending on the scenario, it could take longer.

Repair & Replacement Policies

According to the company’s user agreement, there are no limits to how many times you can request a claim as long as you pay the service fee. However, there is a limit of a single unit, appliance or system being covered under any plan unless you make additional payments for extra units. This means that if you have two microwaves and you would want them both covered under the warranty, then you need to pay for the extra microwave. For additional units, users need to call to get a quotation.

There are several limitations as to what Choice Home Warranty protects. Coverage for a clothes dryer includes all the components and parts except for cosmetic damage like knobs and dials, doors, and more. Further information on limitations and what the company does not cover can be found in the user’s agreement.

There are many repair and replacement policies with Choice Home Warranty and it is recommended that you go through them in detail, so you fully understand the limitations. There are several limitations included in the user agreement, such as the company will not pay more than $500 per contract term for access, diagnosis, and repair or replacement.

Customer Support & Benefits

You can reach out to the company for home warranty sales or to file for claims though their dedicated landline number or by completing a simple online form with your concern or feedback. The customer service is available 24/7, all year round. There is an intuitive online portal that allows users to contact customer service for claims or queries, check the status of their claims as well as other information.

The website has a FAQ section; however, it does have very limited content. Some of the topics addressed include the service fee, renewal of services, home inspections, and more. This section is helpful to those who are new to Choice Home Warranty and would need more information to guide them in clearing their doubts and making the right choice.

The company also has a blog section with many different categories like Home Cost, Home Décor, and Home Emergency. Each category has several articles that explain the topic and provides important details i.e. under the Home Value Section, you can find articles on home equity loans, benefits of a home warranty, and more.
