About Fiona

Fiona is a loan comparison site that lets you search for loans across a range of lenders. It’s based in New York and owned by Even Financial. Even Financial is a technology company that offers search engines to loan providers. Through its parent company, Fiona has relationships with some big loan companies like LightStream, Vouch, and SoFi, amongst many others. There is a large range of loans available to choose from, including options for users with low credit scores.

Along with personal loans, you can also search through credit cards, savings, and life insurance providers, giving you access to a broad range of financial services. You don’t actually save or borrow with Fiona directly; the site is a marketplace which will connect you to the provider whose rates and APR appeals most to you.

Application & Approval Process

Application

It’s important to remember that you will not actually borrow any money from Fiona or its parent company. The site lets you compare different lenders that suit your needs, and once you’ve choosen a loan provider, you will be redirect to their site to make a full application and agreement.

When you first visit Fiona, you’re presented with a few lender options to compare the different loans available. To get an accurate list of the companies that might be able to lend to you, you will need to give your credit rating, ZIP code, the purpose of the loan and how much you want to borrow.

Once you’ve chosen a provider, you’ll be asked for more personal information. This is going to ensure that you’re eligible for loans from each provider and to give you a more personalized rate. The information you will be required to produce includes:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your date of birth
  • An estimate of your credit score
  • Your street address and ZIP code
  • A contact phone number
  • Your working situation
  • Whether you rent or own your home
  • Your pre-tax annual income
  • Confirm the amount you want to borrow and the purpose

Before you give all your details, it’s worth noting that when you hand over your information, it may be shared with third-party companies that do business with Even Financial. Therefore, you must carefully check their Privacy Policy if you’ve got any concerns.

Approval

After you’ve shared all the basic and necessary information, you will see a range of pre-approved rates. The rates and amounts should be a good reflection of how much you can lend and, most importantly, what rate you will receive.

Once you’ve chosen a lender and click through to their website, you may need to undergo a hard credit check to confirm the rating you provided was accurate and your history meets the minimum needed to proceed. A hard credit check will temporarily affect your credit score. The loan company may also want to check your employment details and assets before they approve any lending.

The details of the approval process vary between lenders, but they will all have the same basic principles of checking your financial status and offering a loan rate that matches your circumstances.

Agreement

Whether you can electronically sign for your loan or must wait for paperwork in the post will depend on the company providing your loan. Fiona can’t control these requirements, it’s between you and the company you’re signing the agreement with.

In general, loan companies will be happy to get everything agreed quickly. Once you’ve signed the paperwork, you should be able to access the funds within the same day. If quick access is important to you, be sure to ask if same day funding is possible before you authorize the hard credit check.

After everything is agreed, you will make your payments directly to your lender. Some will offer a discounted rate for using AutoPay, so it’s worth asking your lender if this option is available for your loan.

Rates & Fees

The lowest personal loan rate you can expect to find on Fiona is 3.84%, whilst the highest is 35.99%. The rates presented to you are dependent on the information that you have previously provided. Discounts on rates may be available if you choose to make payments through AutoPay. You’ll only know exactly what interest rate will be applied to your loan once you’ve completed a full application with the lender.

You don’t pay any fees to Fiona for using the service they offer. Depending on your choice, you may have to pay origination fees to the loan provider which will be between 1% to 6% of the loan amount.

Payment Terms

Loans offered through the loan comparison site can be paid back over the next 2 to 7 years, which again, varies between lenders. In general, the longer you take a loan, over the more you’ll pay back in interest. Each provider has their own specific terms and conditions attached. If you’re interested in being able to make extra payments, taking a payment holiday, or paying off your loan early, be sure to confirm any rules and fees directly with your borrower.

Customer Support & Benefits

Although it only offers a search and comparison service, you can still contact Fiona if you have issues using the website. However, any questions or problems about your loan or payments need to be directed to your lender.

To get in touch with Fiona, there is a telephone number and email address available. Alternatively, there’s an online contact form on the site and you can expect a response within 24 to 48 hours. You can also check out the FAQs section on the website which has a lot of information about how their process works and the steps to take after you’ve selected your ideal loan provider.
