Price & Plan Options
Global Home Protection offers three major plans to its customers. Unfortunately, they have not mentioned any prices or further details about plans on their website. However, it does mention each plan and what appliances and systems fall under which plan’s category. The Global Home Protection website claims that the company offers plans for as low as $1, plus homeowners can enjoy one month of free home warranty when they sign up, along with a $150 discount.
New customers can get a free quote by filling in some basic information such as your first and last name, email address, phone number, property address, city, state, and zip code, on the company’s website. If the homeowner has any further request, they can type that into the “additional comment” section and click on “Apply.” Global Home Protection will then email the quote to the interested homeowner.
The first protection plan is called Major Systems which covers the heating system, air conditioning, plumbing system, electrical system, plumbing stoppage, and water heaters.
Next, there is the Major Appliance Plan which covers all the major appliances within the household. This includes kitchen refrigerators, cooktop, range/oven/stove, dishwasher, clothes washer, built-in microwave, and clothes dryer.
Lastly, there is the Diamond Plan which is a one-stop solution. It features an extensive list of systems and assets covered such as air conditioning and heating systems, electrical system, plumbing systems, water heaters, plumbing stoppage, kitchen refrigerators, cooktop, built-in microwave, oven/range/stove, clothes washer and dryer, ceiling and exhaust fans, garage door opener and garbage disposal, and whirlpool bathtubs.
The add-ons focus on specialty items such as:
- Pools and Spas
- Sump Pump
- Septic System
- Standalone Freezers
- Well Pumps
Homeowners can also get more add-on coverage for additional ovens, ranges, stoves, cooktops, and refrigerators in the household.
Professional Contractor Network
Global Home Protection offers an in-network contractor service, which means they will send in their own technicians and laborers to take care of any repair issues. The only downside to using this service provider is that homeowners cannot use technicians outside of the company. However, this is a standard practice in the warranty industry, so it is nothing surprising.
Homeowners can rest assured as this company vets all its technicians through a meticulous process. All technicians working within the Global Home Protection network go through an interview prior to their selection. All technicians hired are qualified, licensed, and friendly.
Another significant plus about working with this warranty company is the quality assurance they offer. Most warranty providers only provide up to 30 or 90 days of workmanship guarantee. However, with Global Home Protection, the homeowners get a staggering five-year workmanship guarantee.
It is a fairly simple process to submit a claim in case of any appliance breakdown. A policyholder will have the privilege to call Global Home Protection’s 24/7 claims hotline where their representative will automatically connect the homeowner with a licensed contractor in their locale. Global Home Protection website promises to “dispatch a licensed and bonded service contractor to your home the same day.” The service contractor will set up an appointment with the homeowner and give them an expected time for the repairs if the problem cannot be taken care of immediately.
The contractor will arrange for any broken components and parts and reschedule another appointment to replace the damaged portion. If the system or appliance is beyond repair, the technician will advise the homeowner on what they can do next. Their coverage applies to the costs of a new replacement unit as per the terms and conditions of the policy. Officially, Global Home Protection asks for one day to get a service contracted over to the policy holding homeowner for an initial assessment.
Repair & Replacement Policies
It takes a day after filing a claim to be assigned a contractor that is within the policy holder’s area. The service contractor will come in for an assessment and try to resolve the issue. If the damage to the unit will cost similar to a new item or is irreparable, the service contractor will recommend a replacement. Global Home Protection will honor the replacement as per the policy.
However, there are coverage limits applicable to each appliance and system. For example, with a clothes washer and dryer, components such as pumps, motors, electronic boards, thermostats, heating relay and elements, wiring harness, fuses, and igniters are included. However, the warranty excludes venting, dials, and knobs, linting screen, and damage to clothes.
As for a dishwasher, the covered parts and components include electronic boards, control switches, pumps, and heating elements, whereas racks and hinges fall outside the coverage.
In regards to range/oven/stove/cooktop, the warranty covers the components such as fuse, thermostat, switches, burners, ignition modules, igniters, spark assemblies, glow sticks, and electronic boards. However, it excludes clocks, venting, and combo/double units.
However, some systems like Garbage Disposal are fully covered. Homeowners must read their coverage policy and its terms and conditions to fully understand what is and isn’t covered.
Customer Support & Benefits
The policyholders can contact Global Home Protection’s customer support team 24/7 via their claim hotline or send an email. There is also an option to reach out through an online message by filling in an email form on their website. There is an FAQ section which explains the basics about the home warranty, who needs it, and general questions about what is covered by the protection plans.
Lastly, there is a blog section available that provides valuable information, tips, and tricks on various topics, such as preparing ACs for a hot summer, best times to buy appliances, oven maintenance tips, and many more.
