It offers its customers the choice of three very flexible plans that cover the vast majority of home appliances and systems. The company maintains a nationwide network of trusted contractors and they aim to reach customers within 24 hours of a fault being reported. Liberty Home Guard claims to stand out for three distinct reasons. First, they have negotiated volume discounts directly from suppliers in order to provide customers with savings. Secondly, they use advanced technology to make tracking claims and service quick and easy. Thirdly, that they pay their technicians in full and on time. 

Since early 2019, the company has been a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited business with an A rating, which is a testament to the high quality of service it provides. Price & Plan Options

Liberty Home Guard offers customers the choice of three plans. The exact price of each plan will depend on the size and location of the property, but the Appliance Guard and Systems Guard plans are advertised at starting at less than $1 per day while the Total Home Guard is advertised as starting at less than $1.50 per day. 

The Appliance Guard plan covers clothes washers, clothes dryers, kitchen refrigerators, built-in microwave ovens, dishwashers, garbage disposal units, ranges/ovens/cooktops, ceiling and exhaust fans, and garage door openers. The System Guard plan covers air conditioning, heating, ductwork, plumbing, electrical systems, and water heaters. Lastly, the Total Home Guard combines both of these plans to offer complete coverage.

Depending on the chosen plan, coverage starts between 30 and 60 days after payment. There is a choice of length of plans; it is possible to select from month-to-month, annual, or multi-year. The longer the chosen plan, the better the value for money. If a customer has set up automatic payments, then they will be contacted 30 days before a plan expires in order to discuss renewal. 

Professional Contractor Network

Liberty Home Guard works with a large network of contractors across the country. Before being able to join Liberty Home Guard’s network, a contractor is first interviewed and vetted to ensure that they meet the company’s high standards. In rare circumstances, the company will allow its customers to choose their own service contractor. However, few details are available about when this is possible and the company states that in nearly all cases, they will send one of their licensed professionals. 

Claims Process

Making a claim from Liberty Home Guard is very straightforward. When a covered item is in need of repair, customers can request service online or by telephone (the line is open 24/7). There is then a set service fee to be paid. These fees are not detailed online but in the example contract provided on the website, it is listed as $60. After payment, Liberty Home Guard will put customers in contact with a local contractor to schedule an appointment. The appointment will normally take place within 48 hours of the service request being submitted. The contractor will then assess the fault and confer with Liberty Home Guard to check that it is covered by the plan. As long as it is covered, the contractor will then carry out the work straightaway or order any necessary parts before completing the job. 

Repair & Replacement Policies

All work carried out by Liberty Home Guard contractors comes with a 60-day workmanship guarantee. This means that if the fault reoccurs or if it was not fixed properly, the company will send a contractor to carry out a second repair free of charge within the 60-day period. 

The exact coverage will depend somewhat on the chosen plan. However, in general, the plans cover faults caused by normal wear and tear, and the contractor will assess this. They do not cover faults that were caused by misuse or faults that existed prior to purchasing the plan. The Liberty Home Guard contracts detail exactly what is covered for each appliance or system and in general, access, diagnosis, and repair/replacement of all covered items is limited to $1,600 per item. 

For example, in the case of a clothes washer, the plan will cover all mechanical components and parts but it will not cover plastic tubs, soap dispensers, knobs and dials, door seals, hinges, leveling and balancing, and timers (unless they directly affect the functionality of the item).

A systems example would be the electrical system and the plan covers all mechanical components and parts, including built-in bathroom exhaust fans. The plan does not cover CO alarms, smoke detectors or related systems, intercom/communication/doorbell and associated systems, D.C. wiring or components, attic exhaust fans, auxiliary or sub panels, rerunning of new wiring for broken/severed wires, wire tracing, circuit overload, or upgrading existing outlets to GFI.

Liberty Home Guard’s contracts contain clear details of what is covered in the case of all appliances and systems. The coverage is very similar to that offered by the majority of home warranty providers and represents good value for money. Prior to purchasing a plan, it is possible to review the contract to ensure that it provides the coverage a customer may need.
